Excerpt: During the dot com era, few Information Technology (IT) organizations were under much pressure to show the business value that they provided. Today, the business value of effective infrastructure management must be recognized. Network management, however, enables an effective IT infrastructure and acceptable application performance, both of which are required in order for an organization to be able to achieve its key business goals. After 9/11 the primary goal of most businesses was to reduce cost, however today organizations incur a variety of goals just as important. One of these goals is to become an agile organization, meaning on that can respond in a real time enough fashion to situations that impact the health and well being of the organization and its stakeholders. In order to become more agile, organizations need to modify their business processes.
