Excerpt:

Melanie Posey, Research Director, Web Hosting & Telecom Services, IDC and Chip Freund, Director, Managed Services Product Marketing, Verizon Business, sat down with ITO America to discuss market trends and how managed service providers help ensure large-business and government customers drive efficiency and enable productivity through a comprehensive focus on the interdependencies of network infrastructure, application, performance and end-user experiences.

Melanie Posey is a well-respected industry analyst, frequent speaker at industry and client events, and a widely quotes source in such publications as Investor's Business Daily, The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, and Network World.

When asked what types of customers are interested in managed WAN optimization, Posey said, 'We're seeing interest in WAN optimization across the board in the U.S. business market. Retail companies, healthcare and government are important vertical markets that you need to centrally store large amounts of information, yet distribute it to the edge of the network.'

William 'Chip' Freund currently serves as the Director of Managed Services Product Marketing for Verizon Business, with responsibility for leading the marketing efforts for the company's expansive portfolio of managed network, security and IP telephony services.

Said Freund, 'Using Verizon management and optimization services also provides the ability to leverage security components critical to the effective delivery of applications.'
