Ralph Szygenda

VP, General Motors

Ralph Szygenda

Ralph Szygenda is the Vice President and Chief Information Officer of General Motors Corporation. He joined GM on June 28, 1996 and is responsible for developing and implementing GM's global information technology strategy. Szygenda also has a leadership role in the business process transformation of General Motors. Before joining GM, he was Vice President and CIO at Bell Atlantic Corp., a position he held since June 1993. Prior to this, Szygenda spent more than two decades at Texas Instruments, Inc. and was responsible for hardware and software design before holding key management positions including Vice President and CIO. Szygenda received a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1970. He earned a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas in 1975, and completed course work for a Ph.D. in electrical engineering
