Scott Crawford

Scott has more than 15 years of experience in information technologies and industry-wide insight on multiple fronts. An (ISC)2 Certified Information Systems Security (CISSP), Security Architecture (ISSAP) and Security Management (ISSMP) Professional, Scott's expertise covers a diverse range of interests. He has pioneered implementation and research in multiple fields, from assistive technologies to sophisticated distributed-trust data security architectures to IT service management.

Prior to joining EMA, Scott was the first Information Security Officer for the International Data Centre of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) at the UN's third headquarters in Vienna, Austria. As the CTBTO's senior IT security expert, Scott was responsible for guiding the development of information security strategy and implementation for an organization representing more than 150 nations. In addition to establishing the CTBTO's information risk and security policy foundations, Scott guided the deployment of security management systems and led the development of pioneering technology initiatives, including a worldwide data authentication regime centered on a public key infrastructure for which he was the principal designer and architect.

Earlier information technology positions that Scott has held include systems management for a division of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado, as well as for a division of Emerson. His work with entrepreneurial companies ranges from application development to investor relations. Scott is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and has authored numerous white papers and given well-attended presentations at major industry events including the RSA Conference, on topics ranging from security architecture, regulatory compliance and IT risk management, to analyses of the business impact of information technologies.

Scott's graduate work in the UK was conducted under the advisement of a leading participant on the IETF X.500 standards body (directories/PKI). His graduate study beyond the master's degree includes telecommunications and network technology through the Interdisciplinary Telecommunications Department, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of Colorado; and Computer Information Systems at University College, University of Denver.
